Ethiopia’s celebrated long-distance runner Letesenbet Gidey exchanged wedding vows in a colorful ceremony over the weekend momentarily stepping away from the tracks to celebrate her union with longtime partner Deacon Fesseha Kiros.
The joyous occasion was adorned with floral elegance as Gidey graced the event in a stunning white floral dress pledging her eternal love with vows that promised ‘only death would part them.’

Letesenbet holds the current world record for the half marathon, which she set in October 2021. She is only the second athlete, after Ingrid Kristiansenfrom 1989–1991, to hold the two world records simultaneously.
